Summer 2002

Kids’ Plates Grantee Newsletter

Dear 2002-2003 Kids’ Plates Grantees,

Welcome to the new round of Kids’ Plates funding. Congratulations on your Kids’ Plates award!

We are all anxiously awaiting the passage of the 2002-2003 California state budget so we can begin this year’s Kids’ Plates program activities. I will notify each of you as soon as this happens (which I hope is very soon). In the meantime, while you cannot officially begin your Kids’ Plates funded program, please take the opportunity to prepare for your upcoming program activities. Once the budget is passed, the program will begin immediately.

One of the requirements for receiving Kids’ Plates funding is that at least one representative, working directly with the Kids’ Plates funded program, attend the 16th Annual California Conference on Childhood Injury Control. The actual conference will be held September 23-25, 2002 at the Radisson Hotel, Sacramento. The mandatory Kids’ Plates meeting will be held on September 22, 2002 from 10:00AM to 12:30PM. You must attend this meeting. You may attend other pre-conference workshops that afternoon.

Please note: All programs working on bicycle safety must attend the post-conference, “Bike Safety-Train the Trainers” workshop on September 26, 2002 from 9:00AM-4:00PM.

For more information and the conference brochure, please visit www.CIPPP.org.

Please contact me if you have any questions. You can reach me at 619-594-5039 or sholland@projects.sdsu.edu.
