Center for Injury Prevention Policy & Practice Resource Library
The primary mission of the Center is to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of unintentional injuries and violence by assisting public health agencies and programs to incorporate injury prevention strategies into their ongoing efforts. Center staff provide data on injuries, assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of injury prevention programs, serve as faculty for injury surveillance and data collection seminars, and participate as consultants on national, regional, state, and local advisory boards.
The Center’s library serves as an integral source of support for these efforts by collecting a wide variety of injury related resources. The collection, which contains over 6000 cataloged reports, documents, books, bibliographies, manuals, curricula, and videos, is a unique resource of current and historical materials from programs and agencies across the nation. The library also contains extensive files of newsletters, journal articles, working papers, conference proceedings, legislation, and consumer materials such as pamphlets and brochures.
Each week a list of new acquisitions and publications is posted to the Center’s website . This list has been widely used as a reference by injury prevention professionals across the country.
While not a circulating library, the Center’s resources are available for use by anyone with an interest in injury prevention or establishment of a specialized library collection. Please call Ann Hammond, Resource Librarian, at 619-594-1865 to arrange an appointment.
